Nuts Likely To Reduce Cardiovascular Risk In Diabetics

New research proves and recommends people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes to eat nuts in order to prevent cardiovascular problems which can lead to premature death.

Nuts contain rich nutrients like Calcium, Magnesium, Vitamin E, Fibers and unsaturated fatty acids that proves beneficial for health. The study conducted at American college of Cardiology, proves affiliation between consumption of nuts and lowering risk of cardiovascular disease.

Type 2 diabetes is a condition that metabolizes glucose in the body. The complications occurring from this can cause kidney damage or cardiovascular problems.

More than 30 million people in the United States had diabetes. There were about 250,000 death certificates stating diabetes as the reason for death which made diabetes leading the chart for cause of deaths in US.

In 2010, the researchers explored that the result of consumption of nuts to manage the symptoms and diabetic complications. In a Journal this year, the Circulation Research has published with evidence which supports recommendation for consumption of nuts in your daily diet that could reduce the risk of heart problems in people diagnosed with diabetes.

The latest research was carried upon 1600 adults by filling out questionnaires before they were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and even after.

All nuts proved to be beneficial for health, especially tree nuts like almonds and walnut. It was found that that tree nuts consists of greater amount of nutrients compared to groundnuts. Thus, they offer more benefits than groundnuts.

The analysis depicted that people with type 2 diabetes had up to 17% low risk of cardiovascular problems and 34% low risk of premature death because they consumed  5 serving of nuts per. The people who consumed nuts after being diagnosed with diabetes had 11% reduced risk of cardiovascular problems and 25% low risk of premature death.

The researcher’s team found that even a small amount of consumption of these nuts can lead to 3% reduction of risk with cardiovascular disease and 6% low risk for premature death because of heart diseases.

Nuts may also improve blood pressure, maintain sugar control and enhance metabolism.
